Rick Owens: he's the mastermind behind hauntingly beautiful runway collections, has made cameos in more hip-hop lyrics than we can possibly keep track of, and even supports rising music talents like Zebra Katz. Yep, we're talking about a true Renaissance man here, y'all. But while we're used to seeing the designer (who's known for his distressed leather, his drapey cuts, and his mostly-black color palette) exploring his style game OFF the catwalk, now he's stepping out of these glamorous shadows and into the...gym? Yesterday WWD reported that Owens is joining forces with Adidas on sneaker collections for both men and women, giving the athletic brand's shoes an unexpected dose of gothy edge.

We hear that he'll stick with his signature shades— black, gray, white, pearl, and bone— and will base the styles off a singular, slim silhouette. This is great news who for anyone who needs that extra kick in their workout (AKA basically everyone?!), but out of all the possible collabs, why sneakers? According to Owens, the partnership was a sneaky trick to convince himself to get into cardio. “I work out like a fiend but I hate, hate, hate cardio. I realized I’m in my fifties now and I need to do something for my heart and lungs. So, I’ve got to start running,” he said to WWD. “I thought to myself, ‘What shoes am I going to wear running?’ I can’t wear my big chunky basketball shoes – I’d look like a dinosaur running through the Tuileries.” You're clearly not alone, Rick, which is why we're DYING to slip our feet into these super-luxe sneaks.

If you feel the same way, better start saving up now. Like the rest of Owens' rad pieces, these shoes definitely don't come cheap. The Rick Owens for Adidas sneakers will debut at the designer's men's runway show in Paris later this month, and you can buy them starting at $400 (gulp!) in stores come December. On the plus side, that gives us plenty of time to start our Designer Sneaker Fund? After all, between Owens, Jeremy Scott, and Yeezy 2's, we're DEFINITELY going to need it.
