Trending At Coachella: Ladylike Dressing, Snapbacks, Wild Prints And Flower Crowns (Still!)

Unless you happen to be one of those lucky people who never gets hot and sweaty (seriously though, what's their sercret?!), looking cute at a festival like Coachella is a tough feat to pull off. We're talking about a situation where you're sitting outside all day under the beating sun, surrounded by thousands of pushing people all elbowing to see the same band you want to...not exactly a picture-perfect moment. But hey, it IS possible, and some of our MTV Style favorites are here to prove it. It seemed like everyone and their mother hit Indio for weekend 1 of the fest, and over the course of 72 hours, some key trends emerged. Whether it's stars like Solange sporting ladylike dresses, Karen O in crazy prints, K.Stew in her trademark snapback, or Vanessa Hudgens in a flower crown (yep, they're still around), these musicians and their famous fans manage to keep cool without sacrificing style. See how they did it below!

LADYLIKE DRESSING

Alright, so we all know that Miss Solange Knowles is the reigning queen of festival dressing. Rather than stick with lazy girl options like ripped denim and cropped tops, she cranks up the quirk in retro originals like printed suits and button-ups. She rocked this look hard at SXSW, but this weekend the singer gave her signature style a ladylike spin in a lemon-print sleeveless frock and matching yellow sandals. Not that she would ever need to, but Katy Perry also proved her pinup status at the Lacoste party decked out in a Dolce & Gabbana skirt and bra set (also the same one Iggy Azalea wore in her "Work" music video). Then there's Jessie Ware, rounding out the trio in a red and white striped crop top and printed tea length skirt. Whereas Solange and Katy opted for heels, Jessie shed her shoes to go barefoot during her performance. She topped off her look with some raver pigtail buns, and somehow, we love her even more than before.

SNAPBACKS

Function and fashion: they don't have to be mutually exclusive, you guys. And there's no better model for this than Kristen Stewart, who went predictably casual this weekend in black shorts, a ripped tee, and a navy blue snapback. The look is a (slightly) updated take on her American Eagle outfit from last year, and while it might not be JAW-DROPPING, we couldn't really picture K.Stew in anything else. Theophilus London stuck with a slick all-white color palette during his performance, and Rita Ora channeled a tomboy after hours at the festival in a backwards hat and see-through jacket.

WILD PRINTS

Holy throwback! Coachella performers Karen O, Earl Sweatshirt, and Grimes paid some MAJOR attention to decades past in their onstage ensembles, all of which resulted in a kaleidoscope of mishmash prints. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman took to the stage in an insane (in a good way, obviously) gold lamé suit and vintage-inspired graphic button-up blouse. She completed her outfit with a metallic crown, proving that only SHE can wear all of these things together and look incredible. *sigh* Earl Sweatshirt called out the '70s in his rad blue and green tie-dye tee, but one trend's clearly not enough for this guy. He also rocked the ultimate SXSW spillover fad: the bucket hat. Never one to shy away from experimentation, newly orange-haired Grimes performed in baroque-esque patterned pants by Jeremy Scott. It's very '80s Versace on the beach, right?! Judging from the photo, it looks like she also has a matching jacket that she's wrapped around her waist here.

FLOWER CROWNS

Remember when flower crowns were THE trend of summer 2k12? Well, they're not finished quite yet! Thanks to fans like Lana Del Rey, Kirsten Dunst and more, this blogger favorite clearly has some major staying power. Vanessa Hudgens sported the flower child steez (again!) this weekend in a crown adorned with red roses, and AnnaSophia Robb and Lucy Hale followed suit with their own dainty yellow and white versions.

Weekend 1 of Coachella may have wrapped, but festival season is only JUST beginning. Which trends do you want to see more of this summer? And which are you so over?! Tell us!
