Minnie Mouse Solidifies Status As Hottest Cartoon In Fashion

It's hard to say when exactly this Minnie Mouse fashion craze first kicked off. Was it because of Kreayshawn's pink metallic Minnie ears in her anti-luxury brand anthem "Gucci Gucci?" Or maybe it was the moment two pint-sized fashion besties pushed on a pair at Disneyland last year? Whatever the reason or moment of origin, Minnie and her trademark polka-dotted bow are irrefutably more in vogue than ever, as evidenced most recently by the crop of her signature ears that Gail Sorronda used for her most recent showing at Australia's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival.

Sorronda's kitschy, colorful Spring/Summer collection took cues from '90s era Minnie with vibrant polka dots and a neon Crayola color palette. This range of Mouse-inspired togs and accessories is but one of a growing line of fashions that use Mickey's better half as a jumping off point. You'll remember Minnie already has a nail polish deal (though, when was the last time you saw the girl's nails???) AND a grip of British designers creating a presentation around her. One might argue that The Simpsons (what with Lady Gaga's 18-outfit cameo and Jeremy Scott's Fall 2012 collection) are at par with the lady mouse. It's a point worth looking into, but we think Matt Groening's Simpsons are just picking up steam in the fashion cartoon sector. The current ubiquity of Minnie Mouse, though, especially in the face of all these fashion cats, undeniable and noteworthy.
