Selena Gomez gets a retro makeover for “Wizards of Waverly Place.”

It may not be Halloween anymore, but that’s not stopping Selena Gomez from costuming up. For this week’s episode of Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena gets retro-tastic ’50s AND ’70s makeovers. For the nifty fifties look, rather than a simple poodle-skirted Sandra Dee à la Grease, the Wizards makeup and wardrobing departments went all out for the time-travelling ep, which airs this Friday. Selena wears a canary yellow all-over floral printed dress with a FULL A-line skirt sitting below the knee and a natural waistline. The frock’s short-sleeve bateau neck bodice would be unforgiving on most, but as we’ve come to know, Selena is blossoming into quite the fashion plate goddess, with an uncanny ability (some might say a gift) to rock just about anything. Sel is accessorized with a classy string of pearls plus a bracelet, single post earrings, and tiny yellow bows placed throughout her bouffant ponytail ’do.
The era-hopping also takes Sel and family to a Saturday Night Fever-reminiscient ’70s. Selena shows off her gams in a swingy silver mini with loooong bell sleeves. Her hair is blown out in the glammed out Farrah Fawcett feathered waves (as was customary for the time). Her ensemble is topped off with a pair of BIG silver hoops, and while we’ll have to wait until the episode actually airs to see what kind of cray-mazing footwear she’s working with for this retro look, we’re crossing our fingers for a pair of bananas lucite platform heels with goldfish swimming around inside.
