While there are definitely negatives to trotting around in heels all the time (blisters, tumbles, late-night foot cramps, the paranoid suspicion that blood is pooling in your toe box from standing in a pair for too long…), it’s safe to say that just about every girl loves the look and feel of putting on a pair of heels. They perk up the posture and make your feet look tiny and unobtrusive (AS FEET SHOULD BE. JK. We are feminists who love big feet!). And the leg elongation is the best. That’s why we let the love-hate relaysh (that’s short for “relationship”) go on. PLUS, there are so many kinds of heels (even ones that are, dare I say, comfortable) that we could never swear them off entirely. In this week’s Shoe Update, the sweet model-turned-actress Brooklyn Decker, divalicious songstress Jennifer Hudson, and always bubbly Blake Lively demonstrate the full range of heel sizes and shapes.
At the Tuesday taping of Good Morning America, Brooklyn Decker wore a flouncy white embroidered cap-sleeve Tibi dress with a full A-line skirt and an olive Sanctuary troop vest to un-girly the frilly frock. She finished the outfit off with a pair of two-toned nude patent leather pumps by Chloé with a lucite block heel. Not only are these shoes classy-cute, but they’re also pretty sensible. With a thicker heel, there’s reduced risk of toppling over, and the bonus ankle strap keeps your foot from flying out, making these WAY easy to walk in!
On her way into the Late Show with David Letterman, Jennifer Hudson was spotted in a figure-flattering short-sleeved denim bodycon, which perfectly showcases her legs that lead straight to *BLADOW* these insane platform cork heel-wedge hybrids (which might actually be more orthopedic than you think) by THE magic man of heels, Christian Louboutin. Blake Lively also wore a pair of Loubous to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno Wednesday night. Blake’s strappy, SKY-HIGH stilettos with their chartreuse hue and glittery in-step are what artists’ and physicists’ and unicorns’ DREAMS are made of, surely overshadowing her handkerchief-hemmed Missoni dress and frying the neurons in SEVERAL parts of my parietal lobe. (Ed. Note: This is why we love Gaby. She’s a shoe mistress AND a bio major.)
