Parents Apparently Don't Like When You Teach Their Kids About Chief Keef

They're are outraged.

An elementary school teacher in Chicago is under fire for giving students a research assignment and test on Chief Keef.

While filling in for a teacher on extended leave, a substitute had sixth graders study the young rapper's career. They learned about who shot the MC as a 16-year-old and where he was placed on house arrest, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Although some rap fans love Sosa despite his controversial rhymes, parents apparently didn't like this at all. At least one parent is voicing her concerns.

“I had never heard of him,” a parent named Katrina Sanders told the paper. "But after careful research I found out that his music is about having sex, using the ‘B’ word, anti-police and supporting gangs. What happened to the musical composers? The music that this teacher is presenting is the very thing that the children don’t need: profanity, drugs and acting as if being arrested is a badge of honor.”

Sanders also released a YouTube clip where she shared her outrage with this teacher’s lessons.

This was all going down without the principal’s approval, according to a Chicago Public Schools spokesperson.

“This inappropriate project was immediately suspended by the principal as soon as she learned about it,” the spokeswoman, Emily Bittner, said. "While teachers have flexibility in making assignments, CPS requires them to provide age-appropriate material in the classroom.”

In August, another teacher was in hot water for having a Kanye West-inspired classroom. The fourth grade teacher’s Yeezy-inspired materials were later taken down after complaints were made about the 'Ye's lyrical content.
