Questlove Is Releasing His Memoir This Summer

By Georgette Pierre

Known for his vast knowledge of hip-hop (and, of course, being the drummer of the legendary Roots group) Questlove can now add author to his ever-growing list of titles.According to Rolling Stone, the hip-hop connoisseur is working on a book that will be part memoir, part cultural study. The memoir titled "Mo' Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove," will detail his experiences in music, the rise of The Roots, life growing up in Philadelphia during the 70s and much more.

So what can fans expect? Well based on a recent press release, "musings about the state of hip-hop, the state of music criticism, the state of statements” and Questlove’s thoughts on "pivotal moments in black music and pop culture."

The memoir will be released June 18 through Grand Central Publishing.

If he’s not fine-tuning your favorite artist’s album or playing house band on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," you’ll most likely find him teaching a class at NYU about ‘classic albums.' Just call him Professor Questo.
