Steve Malkmus Teams With Silver Jews

Pavement frontman Steve Malkmus is sequestered in a New

York studio working on the fourth album by David Berman's Silver

Jews. Berman bid adieu to Malkmus (who appears on the Jews' first two

albums) for the group's last disc, Starlite Walker (1996), for which

Berman enlisted the help of New Radiant Storm Kings members

Matt Hunter and Peyton Pinkerton. The upcoming album,

tentatively titled The Late Great Silver Jews, will be released by Drag

City in the fall and will coincide with the publication of a book of poetry by

Berman called "Governors On Sominex."
