Sway & King Tech Bring The World Famous 'Wake Up Show' To Sirius XM’s Shade 45

By Maurice Bobb

Long before Sway Calloway joined MTV, where he’s interviewed everyone from Jay-Z to President Barack Obama, the iconic hip-hop VJ/journalist ruled the airwaves in his native Oakland on the “Wake Up Show” with longtime partner-in-rhyme King Tech. On Friday (January 18), it was announced that the duo would bring their world-renowned radio show to Sirius XM’s Shade 45.

"They continue to help us make sense of what we love about Hip-Hop," said Adrian Miller, one of the show’s executive producers.

The show, which also includes DJ Revolution mixing on the 1’s and 2’s, is best known for its exclusive access to cutting edge hip-hop music and its innovative format. Additionally, the show is widely recognized as a springboard for rising stars and has had a number of upcoming hip-hop icons on the show early in their respective careers, such as Notorious B.I.G., The Wu-Tang Clan, Tupac, Jay Z, Kanye West and, most notably, Eminem, who was signed by Dr. Dre’s Aftermath imprint as a result of his weekly slot rapping on the show.

The “Wake Up Show" will premiere on Monday, January 21 at 8:00 pm EST. After each broadcast, listeners will also be able to catch “Wake Up Show" updates and rare clips on www.wakeupshow.com or catch the show on SiriusXM On Demand for subscribers listening via the SiriusXM Internet Radio App.
