Drake Cancels Show Due To Uncle’s Passing

Young Money star Drake has cancelled a weekend show after the death in the family. Gossip site TMZ reported that the Canada heartthrob’s uncle passed away, causing Drake to halt Saturday’s show in Orlando, Florida as part of Universal Studios’ Summer Concert Series as the final act. Reports also say that there will not be a replacement for Saturday’s performance nor have officials announced a makeup date.

Drake and his representatives apologized to fans in a written statement and thanked the officials at Universal as well.

“We regret to announce that Drake will not be able to take the stage at Universal Orlando Resort due to a death in the family. He hopes that his fans understand the situation he finds himself in and know that he fully intends to return to the area in the future. He thanks Universal Orlando Resort and his fans for their continued support,” read the statement.

Within the Young Money camp, Drake isn’t the only artist in the crew to suffer a death of a relative. Pink Friday star Nicki Minaj and her family are still dealing with the loss of the rapper’s cousin Nicholas Telemaque, who was murdered by gunfire in his hometown of Brooklyn on July 4; He was 27. Nicki Minaj addressed her cousin’s murder via her Twitter account, continuing to travel with Britney Spears and the Femme Fatale tour.
