Drake is admittedly focused on being "unforgettable" and last night (September 21) he succeeded during his Light Dreams & Nightmares Tour in Miami's James L. Knight Theater. And despite quelling rumors that he might have disrespected the late U.G.K. veteran Pimp C by referencing his nickname, Bun B was a surprise guest at the show along with Rick Ross, DJ Khaled and Birdman.
"I'm a huge Pimp fan, I feel like I'm extended UGK family," Drake told MTV News recently. "Bun and Pimp are like uncles, dads to me. They're G's. [When I'm around them], I feel like I do around my uncles. They're still the coldest cats in the world, but Bun makes me feel ... he's a legend. His presence, it's like me calling myself Young Bun B, [when I call myself] Young Sweet Jones."
Fortunately, the 1515 Boys were in Miami to give you a backstage pass to Drake's first headlining concert and everything that happened behind the scenes. Here are a few of Tuesday night's breakout moments from our live blog.
8:19: "Drake is in a disclosed area taking flicks with a number of fans. One guy who's with his son who can't be any older than ten comes up to me and asks "You have a sharpie?"
9:00: "The music begins. Lights are flashing. Drake's team is making their way to the stage, show's about to start. "9AM in Dallas" is the kick-off number."
9:10: "Birdman just arrived to catch the show, Khaled stuck around and TONS of women here pushing up on stage.
10:20: "Bun B just got here in time to see Rick Ross take the stage to "B.M.F." and kill his hometown crowd. Even the girls in six-inch heels were mean mugging. You know the opening lines..."
And finally, we might have a juicy tidbit for you later this week.
"On the elevator heading up to the stage area to watch Tyga, doors open up: DJ Khaled! The Miami mayor is brimming with energy. "We hooking up in the studio later, right," he asks. The 1515 Boys might have some exclusives to deliver this week."
