No matter how weird or bad a console's name, the general public eventually get used to it. Like the Wii U for example it was vehemently hated at first, but eventually, acceptance sank in and everyone simply began using the term.

But the Xbox One is different, because early on, people came up with a not so flattering nickname: the Xbone. And the best/worst part is how it comes in handy when talking about the not so stellar choices that Microsoft has made with their upcoming console.

So you'd think that MS would try their best to distance themselves from a slightly derogatory term, right? Nope, because they have just purchased the Xbone.com domain

Fusible discovered the acquisition, thanks to recently updated WHOIS records. And it doesn't do much at the moment; it simply goes to a Bling page that finds all results for the name Xbone, which at the moment, is all about Microsoft purchasing the domain. How meta.

And don't expect them to do anything with it; the move was clearly motivated to prevent harsh critics from getting ahold of the URL. As the specific reasons why the term is hated so much within Microsoft, here we have Major Nelson himself, Larry Hryb, explaining on NeoGAF, just a few days before the domain purchase was revealed:

"I don't like it...it disrespects the teams that have put in thousands of hours (already) into the development of the product. Sure, it's cheeky but I don't care for it myself."
