'Killzone 3' Patch Arrives Tomorrow, Adds Custom Games

"Killzone 3" hit stores on February 22, and while it hasn't been a hotbed of glitches the way certain other new releases have been, like any newly released game it is not without its problems and tweak needs. A patch is arriving tomorrow to address just those issues, and since you're going to have to download it anyway, Guerilla Games went and threw in a little bonus in the form of a brand new feature for online play: custom games.

The fixes and tweaks are mostly of the multiplayer variety, though there are a few updates to the menus and single-player campaign as well. You can find a full list on the game's official website. Cheaters will be disappointed to learn that a number of well-known (and not-so-well-known) exploits have been addressed, while the rest of us can breathe easy once again knowing that members of the opposing team have few options for climbing out of the game's maps.

The big addition, however, is custom games. The feature will actually unfolds over the course of two patches, with this one, v1.07, being referred to as Phase One (guess what the next one is called). Initially, players will be able to create private, unranked matches with tweaks available for a range of settings: game mode, map, missions/mission time (Warzone only), invite Squad members and invite Enemy Squad Leader.

Phase Two is still in development and is thus subject to change. Guerilla lays out some of the options you might be able to tweak, however:

* More configuration options for missions in Warzone and Operations

* Adjustable kill count for Guerrilla Warfare

* Configurable Unlocks (choose which one you want to play with)

* Configurable Classes (choose which one you want to play with)

* Configurable Weapons, Abilities, Skills, Ribbons

* Friendly Fire On/Off

* Brutal Melee On/Off
