Kristen Wiig, Tobey Maguire Join Will Ferrell's 'Spoils Of Babylon' Miniseries

Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig are teaming up for the sake of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. The foursome will soon work together on the upcoming IFC six-part miniseries "The Spoils of War," which is a spoof of sorts on stories like "The Thorn Birds" and " Winds of War."

According to Deadline, "The Spoils of Babylon" chronicles "the sexy and dramatic lives of the Morehouse family who made their fortune in the oil business." Wiig will play Cynthia, the daughter of oil magnate Jonas Morehouse. Maguire, on the other hand, will play Devon, the adopted son of Jonas. They end up running Morehouse Enterprises together while they fight "their feelings for each other." In this world, Morehouse Enterprises is the seventh largest company in the world.

Ferrell will portray the Shah of Iran and the fictional author of "The Spoils of War," as well as produce the project. "Casa de mi Padre's" Matt Piedmont will direct the miniseries off a script he co-wrote with "Saturday Night Live's" Andrew Steele. No word yet on when it could premiere on IFC.

"This is a crazy and maybe even a stupid idea," Ferrell said of "The Spoils of Babylon" back in March. "IFC is either really courageous or really stupid which makes them the perfect partner for us."

Here's IFC's synopsis for "The Spoils of Babylon":

"The Spoils of Babylon" is an epic story in the vein of "The Thorn Birds" and "Winds of War." "The Spoils of Babylon" spans three generations, taking viewers from the oil fields of Texas to boardrooms in New York City, through world war battlefields and velvet sheeted bedrooms. As the story unfolds, the booze, the passion and the heartache lead to illegal arms deals and international espionage with the Shah of Iran not to mention the creation of the doomed sub-prime market."
