Milla Jovovich Teases 'Resident Evil 5': Why Is Michelle Rodriguez Alive Again?

"Resident Evil" took no prisoners, save for leading lady Milla Jovovich. Her many co-stars, including Michelle Rodriguez as Rain and Colin Salmon as One, weren't lucky enough to survive the zombie apocalypse. Indeed, the pile of corpses only grows taller and taller as each "Resident Evil" movie trucks along -- but when the fifth film, "Retribution," hits theaters, a few of those corpses will be leaving the pile.

Both Rodriguez and Salmon are signed on for the newest "Resident Evil," though exactly how they'll be involved remains completely unclear. When we caught up with Jovovich and director Paul W.S. Anderson at the "Three Musketeers" junket over the weekend, we asked them point blank: how on earth are Rodriguez and Salmon back in action?

"I’m just forgetful. I forgot I’d already cast them in the movie," joked Anderson. "I can’t tell you exactly how it works, but it is really cool I think, and it’s going to surprise a lot of people."

Likewise, Jovovich was tight-lipped on the topic, though she asked fans to put their skepticism aside on this one.

"People on Twitter are like, 'What’s going on? Everyone was dead and now they’re coming back! What’s the story?' You guys, give me a break – I can't literally give you a breakdown of the script!" she said. "The script is so good. People are gonna be like 'what!'"

"The energy is so high. Everyone is having so much fun. Between stunt rehearsals and costume fittings and gun shooting… people are just so psyched to be back, shooting this movie," she continued. "It’s always a lot of fun. We really love what we do. It’s absolutely wonderful and I can’t wait until [the fans] see it. We haven’t even shot anything but I’m telling you, you see some of Paul’s animatrix videos and storyboards, and it’s like, oh my god… how are we going to pull this off?"
