Francis Ford Coppola's 'Twixt' Trailer Premieres

Don't let its appearance fool you, because Francis Ford Coppola's "Twixt" is going to be like nothing you've ever seen.

A trailer for the movie hit the web today, and judging only by that "Twixt" seems like a strange turn for the "Godfather" and "Apocalypse Now" director. On its surface, the movie just looks like a campy thriller with some great acting and some interesting visual effects. But what has everyone really excited about "Twixt" is that it actually is going to be a lot more than that.

Coppola isn't planning a traditional film-going experience for this movie. Instead, he is going to have a 30-city tour where he and the actors travel around the US and literally edit the movie right before viewers' eyes. He showed off his intention at Comic-Con by re-cutting the trailer several times for attendees, but basically every group of people who sees this movie should have an entirely unique experience.

From that perspective, the trailer is a lot more interesting. It almost seems silly to try to puzzle out the film's plot if it's going be different for every viewer. When that element of the trailer-viewing is taken away, it's fun to just sit back and enjoy the rise. Tom Waits' narration at the beginning is pitch-perfect, and both Val Kilmer and Bruce Dern are fantastic in their roles. Then there's Elle Fanning, who is always a pleasure to watch on screen, and the curiosity over the mystery at the center of the movie, and we're well intrigued.

Hopefully Coppola brings it to a city close enough to all of us so we can all experience whatever is actually going on with "Twixt."
