Diablo Cody Reteams With 'Juno' Producers For 'Young Adult'

The "Juno" reunion for this homewrecker story consists of Cody, Mandate Pictures (and its head, Nathan Kahane) and producers John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon, Russell Smith and Mason Novick. The last of these re-teaming collaborators also worked with the writer on the disappointing "Jennifer's Body" and is attached as a producer on her upcoming (or least set-up) projects "Girly Style," "Breathers: A Zombie's Lament" and the YA series adaptation "Sweet Valley High."

Mandate is reportedly fast-tracking "Young Adult," so it's likely to be the next Cody script to hit the screen, before any of those other projects or the "Taming of the Shrew" update she's working on at Paramount. The next step is apparently to find a director. Of course, for real "Juno" type magic to happen, Jason Reitman would logically have to return, as well.

The recent multiple Oscar nominee for "Up in the Air" received his first Academy recognition for "Juno," but Reitman is likely too busy working on his adaptation of "Labor Day," as well as his producing duties on "Jeff Who Lives at Home," to be wooed back for more Codyspeak.

Maybe it's time to see if she can helm one of her films herself?

Do you like Diablo Cody's writing style? Does this husband-stealing plot seem funny to you or are you holding out for the "Sweet Valley High" movie she's scripting?
