Rachel Weisz Moves Into The 'Dream House' With Daniel Craig And Naomi Watts

According to Variety, Weisz has signed on to star in "Dream House," a new thriller directed by "Brothers" filmmaker Jim Sheridan. Weisz will star alongside the previously cast Daniel Craig and Naomi Watts. The Morgan Creek production comes from a script by David Loucka and will be distributed by Universal Pictures.

In "Dream House," Craig and Weisz are a married couple that move with their two daughters to a quiet New England town after Craig's character quits his big city publishing job. But the family's happiness is quickly dashed when they learn that their new home was the site of a murder that claimed the lives of a young mother and her two children. Watts will play a neighbor with close ties to the deceased family.

It's a bit early to know exactly how supernatural this thriller is going to get, but "Dream House" smells faintly of "The Shining." That's a good smell, mind you. The Stephen King novel placed a struggling author and his wife and child in a remote location where the writer rapidly lost his mind and turned on his family thanks to the urging of some bad spirits. His descent mirrored the downward spiral of the Overlook Hotel's previous tenants.

That's not to say that "Dream House" is following the same formula and plot, but look at the basics — a wife and her kids are murdered. Craig's character moves into the same home with his wife and two kids. Is history going to repeat itself? Who knows. The talent on board is solid though, so "Dream House" would have to be something of an extraordinary catastrophe to be a letdown.
