'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' Star Thomas Dekker Joins 'A Nightmare On Elm Street'

Shock Till You Drop has the exclusive scoop that "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" actor Thomas Dekker is in final negotiations to star in "A Nightmare on Elm Street." The actor is set to play the character of Jesse, a jock on the local swim team.

Dekker is no stranger to horror movies, having starred previously in John Carpenter's "Village of the Damned" and Phedon Papamichael's "From Within." He also recently wrapped filming on "All About Evil," a horror-comedy feature that filmed in San Francisco.

The actor will next be seen in "Laid to Rest," a straight-to-DVD horror film debuting on April 21st, 2009. In the movie, Dekker co-stars alongside Lena Headey ("300"), who also stars in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" as the titular character.

Undoubtedly, Dekker is best known for his work on the "Terminator" television series as a youthful John Connor. Despite his age, he is rapidly becoming the seasoned soldier that Christian Bale is set to portray in the upcoming "Terminator: Salvation."

With wide speculation that "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" is set for termination -- a curious business decision, considering the potentially renewed interest in the franchise after this summer's "Salvation" -- it's entirely likely that Dekker will make the break from television and set up shop on the big screen, with "Elm Street" being his first major stop. And if the young actor can go nose-to-nose with a pack of blood-thirsty robots, then Freddy Krueger should be a piece of cake!

How do you feel about Dekker's casting in "A Nightmare on Elm Street"? Are you excited to see the "Sarah Connor Chronicles" star take more film work, or would you prefer the small screen John Connor to continue his war against the Terminators? Let us know in the comments!
