Bummed That Denise Richards Was Booted From 'Dancing With The Stars'? Check These Flicks Out!

Now that Richards is off the network airwaves and fresh episodes of her reality show, “It’s Complicated,” are not due for some time, where oh where will you get your fix of the 38-year-old actress? Why, by exploring the vast, rich universe that is her filmography! Dry your tears and go rent these five movies that MTV Movies promises make up “The Very Best of Denise Richards.”

“Starship Troopers” (1997)

Far in the future, the United Citizen Federation finds itself at war with a race of deadly alien bugs. But hey, the more things change, the more they stay the same: Denise still finds her way into short skirts, leather boots and good old-fashioned high school flirtation. At one point during the interstellar battle, she even gets stabbed through the shoulder by a pissed-off baddie, but keeps on fighting. If that ain’t commitment to the cause, I don’t know what is. Hey, Steve-O, that back injury still keeping you from doing the “DWTS” boogie?

“Wild Things” (1998)

The temptation here is to list this film five times and be done with it. Because really, Richards could win an Oscar for her role in “Schindler’s List 2,” and it still wouldn’t compare to the lesbian, er, thespian glory that is her swimming pool make-out session with Neve Campbell. The plot, meanwhile—filled as it is with sex-fueled betrayal and sex-fueled murder—seems tailor-made for everything Denise has to offer as actress.

“The World is Not Enough” (1999)

Some haters say they didn’t buy that Richards’ character, Dr. Christmas Jones, was actually a nuclear physicist. Some go so far as to assert she’s the worst Bond girl of all time. But her bedroom romp with Pierce Brosnan also prompted one of the most hilarious post-coital Bondian quips of all time: “I thought Christmas only comes once a year!” Hey-oh!

“Undercover Brother” (2002)

Would you believe me if I told you this ode to blaxploitation flicks and Austin Powers isn’t totally awful? That it contains a decent amount of laughs? That energetic Eddie Griffin deserves another shot at a meaty role in a mainstream comedy? All true, I swear. Richards gamely goes about the business of playing a character named White She-Devil, whose role it is to force any African-American culture out of Griffin, a process that basically involves dressing him in polo sweaters and watching NBC Must-See TV. Um, I swear the movie isn’t that bad!

“Love Actually” (2003)

Okay, she’s in the movie for about one minute and only has one line. But am I the only one who’s dreamed of going to meet a friend at the airport, only to be greeted with a hug and a kiss from Denise Richards as she confesses with a smile, “I heard that you were gorgeous”?
