Cuthbert: 'I Would Love To Be In' '24' Movie

"I don't like to play characters that are one note, and just the attractive girl in the film," Cuthbert told us recently. "That's why I'm drawn to these very high suspense films, like '24' and 'House of Wax' and now ['Captivity']." Amidst all these thrillers, Cuthbert has been searching for a role that doesn't have her playing the mundane object of someone's affection - and with her recently-wrapped flick, she claims, she found it.

"It's called 'My Sassy Girl,'" she happily told us, "and it's a really cool romantic comedy." The film focuses on "Swimfan" star Jesse Bradford as Charlie, an innocent Midwestern guy whose life plan is thrown into disarray when he meets a wild young woman (Cuthbert). Following an extreme makeover and an even more extreme dumping, Charlie has to figure out what to do next.

"It's light, and I'm not getting tortured," teased Cuthbert. "And I know people are getting really used to seeing me like that - but you know what, I held out for a romantic comedy for awhile. It was just because I was trying to find the right one." Although it is light and fluffy, Cuthbert cautioned, her "Girl" flick can is also quite ... well ... sassy. "This romantic comedy is different, because [my character] is very interesting and she's going through a lot of drama in her life," the 24-year-old actress said of her meaty part. "She's a bit of an alcoholic, and sort of torments this young guy. That was a lot of fun; it's not your typical romantic comedy. I'm excited for people to see that."

And then, of course, there's the never-ending rumors of Cuthbert making a "24" return. As one of the only characters to have lived through an association with Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer, Cuthbert's Kim seems like a major possibility to appear in the upcoming "24" movie, which is currently being written for the big screen.

"I would love to be in it!" she said, before admitting that she hasn't heard a peep about it. "I'm sort of like 'Here's the telephone!,'" she giggled. "I'm waiting for them to call me whenever they need me. Other than that, they've got so many little secrets and things up their sleeve over there. There's no telling what's going on."

"My Sassy Girl" is due in theaters later this year; the "24" film continues to be developed.
