'16 And Pregnant' Poll: Did Autumn Do The Right Thing By Filing For Child Support?

On tonight's episode of "16 and Pregnant," we met Autumn, a high-school sophomore — and reformed party girl — from Richmond, Virginia, who was expecting a child with her first love, Dustin. Though the pair had been together for more than a year before Autumn got pregnant, their relationship was put to a true test when both teens were suddenly forced to grow up and refocus their priorities.

Autumn was quick to give up nearly everything — school, friends, her social life — to prepare for the arrival of the couple's son, Drake, and, understandably, she expected Dustin to do the same. However, the young father struggled to part with his carefree lifestyle, and after a run-in with police, the odds of it happening anytime soon weren't favorable.

Dustin initially tried to walk the straight and narrow — he even passed an impromptu drug test — yet ultimately it seemed as though he'd rather spend his money on weed than diapers, which forced Autumn to file for child support.

"A year ago, I never thought I'd have a baby at 16 and then be in a courtroom at 17, filing for child support on my boyfriend because he doesn't help," Autumn said in the episode. "I never thought I'd be strong enough to do child support, but I got to worry about my son, what he needs and what's best for him."

Dustin definitely needs to pitch in more, but did Autumn make the right decision by going to court? Weigh in with your opinion, and make sure to download the MTV app for extended sneak peeks of the rest of the season.
