This Cop Turning A Fight Into A Dance-Off Is Like An IRL 'West Side Story'

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is how you peacefully resolve conflict.

On Tuesday, several officers in the Washington, D.C. area were called to the scene of a disorderly conduct call. According to a statement from Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier, when the officers arrived, they found a group of teens who were about to get into a fight.

So how did they stop it? One of the police officers present responded to the conflict in a simple yet highly creative way: She started a dance-off.

The officer, who does not wish to be named, challenged the kids involved to go head-to-head with her in dancing to Silento's "Whip/Nae Nae," and Dlow's "Bet You Can't Do It Like Me." Seventeen-year-old Aaliyah Taylor joined her, and it quickly became apparent that both she and the officer had some serious skills. The pair's dance off was so, well, arresting, that the tension at the scene was diffused. (Who can be angry when they're watching a spontaneous dance-off?)

See for yourself how contagiously fun the whole incident was:

After battle of booty-shaking, Taylor told reporters at Fox5 the incident had taught her that "Not all cops are bad," and that the officer "had some moves."

Oh, and the president of the United States thought she was pretty alright too.

Apparently, even an accolade from POTUS himself hasn't led this officer to gloat. In fact, she told  The Washington Post that the attention the video is getting is "a little embarrassing," explaining that "this is what (she and her fellow officers) do every day." Well-played, you anonymous badass.
