Liam Payne Just Surprise-Dropped A Teaser Of One Direction’s New Song ‘Olivia’

He might get in big trouble for it... but THANK YOU, LIAM!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that anytime someone begins something with, “I shouldn’t really be doing this but…” you’re in for something GOLDEN.

Such is the case with Liam Payne’s totally random but completely welcome sneak peek at a brand new One Direction song from their upcoming album, Made In The A.M. On Thursday night (Oct. 29), he tweeted a short clip of him lip-syncing to an acoustic-guitar driven song with the hashtag #MadeInTheAM scrawled across it. “I shouldn’t really be doing this but!” he tweeted along with it. And our ears instantly perked up.

The clip’s only eight seconds long, but you know what? It’s a blissful eight seconds — and a thankfully revelatory one, since we can immediately I.D. the track in question. We hear Liam lip-syncing to his own voice: “Please believe me, don’t you see the things you mean to me/ Oh, I love you, I love you, I love, I love, I love Olivia.” We already know through the previously released Made In The A.M. tracklist that the guys have a new song called “Olivia,” so this one’s a no-brainer.

This isn’t the first time 1D have named a song after a girl — they had a fun track on their 2013 album Midnight Memories called “Diana.” What we don’t yet know, however, is who the real-life inspiration behind the song is. “Scandal’s” Olivia Pope, maybe? Or perhaps Taylor Swift’s cat, Olivia Benson? (Gasp!)

Needless to say, Directioners around the world couldn’t contain their excitement about Liam’s nice little surprise, and promptly spilled their thoughts on Twitter.

Color me jealous of anyone named Olivia — you’re feeling the 1D love tonight!
