It's official: "Descendants 2" is happening! And we just managed to get "Rotten to the Core" out of our heads... sigh.

Today (October 15), Disney announced that a sequel to the hit Disney Channel Original Movie "Descendants" is currently in the works. A sequel script has been commissioned from Sarah Parriott and Josann McGibbon, the first movie's screenwriters. No plot details have been released and a premiere date has yet to be announced., but "High School Musical" maestro Kenny Ortega -- who directed, choreographed and produced "Descendants" -- has to return to direct the sequel, right? RIGHT?!

Disney's "Descendants" followed the children of some of Disney's most iconic villains: Mal, (Dove Cameron), daughter of Maleficent (Kristin Chenoweth); Carlos (Cameron Boyce), son of Cruella De Vil (Wendy Raquel Robinson); Evie (Sofia Carson), daughter of The Evil Queen (Kathy Najimy); and Jay (Booboo Stewart), son of Jafar (Maz Jobrani). The magical DCOM also included other iconic Disney characters like Mulan, Fairy Godmother, Belle and more.

Now that Mal and her friends are residents of the United States of Auradon, will we return to the Isle of the Lost in the sequel? Details are sparse right now, but we're really hoping to see more Disney villains in the follow-up. If only for more epic sequences like this one:
