'American Horror Story: Hotel' Was Screamworthy For Every Reason
With big changes happening in "American Horror Story" land, there were, admittedly, some questions in advance of last night's "Hotel" premiere as to whether the show would keep the hits coming in its newest iteration.
Namely: Could the creepy Hotel Cortez really compare to the claustrophobia of "Murder House," the insanity of "Asylum," the glamorousness of "Coven," and the freakiness of "Freak Show"?
WELL. By way of response, "American Horror Story: Hotel" left our jaws on the floor (where they go very nicely with the eyes and tongue in an ashtray on the nightstand.)
However incredible the previous seasons of AHS have been, this one has already upped the ante in every possible way, with multiple scream-out-loud moments that also left us screaming for more.
Monstrous monsters
This wasn't the first time that someone got busy with a demonic entity on AHS, but the part where he rapes his victims with a drillbit dildo? Yeah, that would be new.
Sloppy sex
Not only did that penthouse orgy push the absolute limits of broadcast standards, it had the messiest ending of any sex scene on the show yet.
Glammer glamour
To be filed under things that made us howl with envy rather than horror: Liz Taylor, who makes Spalding's Chinoiserie-and-human-dolls fetish look like child's play.
The Countess, our Queen
Not only did Lady Gaga prove herself worthy of the legacy left by her predecessor, but her very first episode of AHS left no doubt that fans are going to scream for her just like we did for La Lange... or, dare we say, maybe even more.
