'Twilight' Fans Weigh In On The Gender-Swapped 'Life And Death'

... Many of them with E.L. James jokes.

"Twilight" fans knew there might be something special on the way for the tenth anniversary of Stephenie Meyer's world phenomenon on Tuesday (October 6), but no one could have guessed what the author actually had in store: a gender-swapped version of the romantic tale, with Beau Swan filling in for Bella and Edythe Cullen taking the reigns for Edward.

It's a lot to process, but since we are the generation of social media, we didn't have to wait too long to find out how "Twilight" fans were taking the news -- and their reactions, it would seem, are quite mixed:

  • Many fans were freaking TF out...

  • ... While others wondered what it would mean for later books in the series.

  • Some casual fans were into the whole gender-swap thing.

  • Meanwhile, others just wanted their "Midnight Sun."

  • And others still had some more ideas for the franchise.

  • And of course, SO MANY people wanted to know how E.L. James would respond.
