Meet Katy Perry's new dog, Butters!

While some of you spent Easter Sunday playing attempting to fit an entire bag of jelly beans in your mouth -- #NoJudgement -- Katy Perry celebrated the holiday by reading an Easter book to her new dog, Butters!

Yes, we said "read" and "dog." (Now that Katy's no longer strictly a cat person, we wonder if Butters will affect her friendship with Taylor Swift?)

We repeated the news because we want to be sure you understood the magnitude of cute that occurred.

Lucky for us, the "Birthday" singer captured an Instagram video of the moment so we can pause at the part where Katy lets Butters smell the scratch and sniff page in the book. CANNOT. EVEN.

Mostly, we're just relieved that Katy is taking the time -- even during busy holiday brunches -- to develop Butters' literacy skills at an early age, because everyone knows that you can't get in to decent doggy day care without a high reading score and solid flea prevention regimen.
