Literally one of the most beautiful things we’ve ever seen.
As excited as we are for Eminem and Rihanna’s performance this Sunday at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards, we’re starting to feel a little nostalgic for Movie Awards performers past. (Blame it on the
rain Throwback Thursday.)
Our minds keep going back to one epic set in particular that’s been permanently engrained into our brains since the moment we first witnessed it: Mya, Pink, Lil’ Kim, and Christina Aguilera’s live rendition of their “Moulin Rouge” soundtrack classic, “Lady Marmalade,” at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards.
Speaking of which, here’s something that might make you feel ancient: The year 2000 was 14 years ago. Your butterfly clips? Rusted. Your gel pens? DRY AS A BONE. Your unsubstantiated fear of Y2K resetting computers or something? Long since dissipated. Those Beanie Babies you treasured? In your parents’ attic, not appreciating in value. Sorry, DEAL WITH IT.
None of that ringing any bells? CONGRATULATIONS, you must have been too #YoungAndBeautiful to have lived through the
Willennium Millennium era of bubblegum pop. All the more reason for you to watch this flawless, diva-on-diva performance. If we had our way, this piece of history would be taught in public schools nationwide, but… #IndecipherableGrumbling
