This Teen Went From High Schooler To Professional NYFW Model In 2 Weeks

Her secret weapon? YouTube.

Two weeks ago, Allyson Chalmers, a 17-year-old high schooler from Philadelphia, Penn., submitted some pretty simple images to We Love Your Genes, an Instagram model scouting company -- yes, that's a thing now -- under the hashtag #WLYG. She was soon signed to IMG Models, a top agency.

Chalmers practiced and perfected her runway walk strut using YouTube videos as tutorials. Then when her IMG Models deal came through, she got to put her skills to the test on a very important runway -- Calvin Klein Collection's Spring 2016 show at New York Fashion Week. Casual.

"I practiced my walk in my dining room when nobody was home, so I could play my music as loud as I wanted!" Chalmers told Refinery29. Now she's walking shows in London and Milan.

"Two weeks ago, I never really thought of modeling as something that I could do as a career," Chalmers continued. "It had always been a thought in the back of my mind, and finally I just decided, why not?!"

Way to rock it, Allyson. You inspire us all to use YouTube for something more productive than watching cat videos. ?
