Jennifer Hudson Is Fighting For Education Equality, And You Can Help Too

Here's how you can be part of this.

A star-studded “Stand For School Equality" rally is set to take place at Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Jennifer Hudson is billed as the headliner for the event where 15,000 parents, educators and students are slated to call for “an end to New York City’s separate and unequal schools,” according to a press release.

This is a very important cause for Hudson. “I’m standing for education equality because every child deserves access to a great school,” she said in a statement.

Hudson won’t be the only star at this Families for Excellent Schools-organized event, as DJ Jazzy Jeff and Aloe Blacc are scheduled to attend as well. Jazzy is set to hit the stage while Aloe is noted as a guest speaker.

"As a dad, I know how important it is for a child to have educational opportunity," he said on Instagram today. "This Wednesday I’ll stand with parents and teachers from across NYC to demand school equality for ALL our kids."

The rally may only be the beginning. Those in attendance plan to march across the Brooklyn Bridge to City Hall in Manhattan. According to the press release, they hope to “demand bold change to an unbalanced education system currently failing hundreds of thousands of children in New York City."
