Nuns Threw A Tailgate For The Pope To End All Tailgates

Pope Francis has some dedicated fans.

Luke Russert of NBC News caught a moment where nuns are tailgating for the pope, and it's the cutest thing ever.

Usually, football fans are the ones who throw epic tailgate parties, but one group of nuns are giving them a run for their money. On Sept. 23, 2015, a church service at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. was led by none other than the leader of the Catholic Church himself, Pope Francis. The historic Mass was attended by over 25,000 people on Catholic University's campus.

You can see a generally calm affair of sandwiches and conversation during this party -- no chicken wings, beer or face paint -- but the excitement is there nonetheless. It just goes to show that tailgating is the perfect accompaniment to any can't-miss event.
