'Taken' Is Getting A TV Prequel

Luc Besson is taking the action franchise to the small screen.

We all know that Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) has a very particular set of skills. Skills he's acquired over the course of a long career. Skills that make him a nightmare for people like...

...Well, whoever's on the other end of this phone call.

taken

But it's always been a mystery exactly how the hero of "Taken" got so incredibly good at hunting criminals, and let's be real, telling that story would take a lot more than your average two-hour feature film.

The solution: A "Taken" TV series, which is headed into development at NBC, according to Deadline.

"Taken," the show, will reportedly follow a young, single Bryan Mills as he goes about acquiring that particular skill set, presumably by chasing down and beating the crap out of various bad guys until they are crying and/or unconscious.

We're also guessing we'll see the origins of that pack of middle-aged security dudes who Mills occasionally pulls a job with for old times' sake in the movie franchise.

The series is still looking for a writer, which means it'll be awhile yet before they need to start casting an actor to play the 30 year-old version of Liam Neeson's action dad. But it's never too soon to start talking about which lithe young Irish gent might score the role. DISCUSS!
