Bryan Singer Announced His Next Project -- And It's Not An 'X-Men' Movie

What??

Director Bryan Singer has revealed his next film, and there are no mutants involved. That we know of.

The filmmaker posted an Instagram pic today, which just happens to be his 50th birthday, featuring the cover page of a script for "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea." And, surprise! The story credit is for none other than Bryan Singer.

"It's my 50th birthday (ouch), and I just put the finishing touches on the script for my next film. A story I've wanted to retell since childhood," the credit reads in part. "I promise this will be an epic and emotional adventure for all ages! An adventure very dear to my heart."

And for those worried about what this might mean for the "X-Men" universe, shhhh, hushhhh, it's OK. Singer swore his Jules Verne update wouldn't take him away from his precious X-movies.

"Not abandoning the #xmen universe. Very excited about #xmenapocalypse and beyond," Singer added in the caption.

Singer is the producer, writer and director of the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," hitting theaters May 27, 2016.
