Deadline reports that The Weinstein Company's Dimension Television will be adapting the story to TV with an all-new set of characters because there are still tons of terror moments to be hashed from the dreadful scenescape realized by the story.

If you ask us, the damage was DONE in the film and Laurie Holden, Melissa McBride and Jeffrey DeMunn had a much easier road duking it out with zombies on "The Walking Dead" than dealing with whatever hellbeasts were lurking in the mist. Truth.

Nevertheless, this is morbidly exciting news and we cannot wait to see what nuggets of SCREAM the showrunners on this are gonna whip out.

Studio co-chairman Bob Weinstein teased the abysmal future the show'll present, saying "The terror and drama in Stephen King's novella are so vast that we felt serialized television is the best place to explore them in greater depth. With this show, Christian [Torpe, writer of the new series] has created a fascinating band of characters and a story with infinite scares."

Word to the wise: Don't go out into the mist.
