What Does Our Justice System Have To Do With ‘F-ckable Muppets’?

We promise it (almost) all makes sense.

With incidences of police brutality reported almost every week, knowing your rights is more important than ever -- particularly your right to counsel, which is guaranteed by the sixth amendment of the U.S. Constitution. In 1963, this amendment was used in the Supreme Court case known as Gideon vs. Wainwright, which ruled that if a person couldn't afford an attorney, one would be provided for them. These people are known as public defenders, and they're heavily overworked, and hella underpaid.

On "Last Week Tonight," John Oliver brilliantly broke down the plight of both public defenders -- and the people they're defending. By "brilliantly," I do, of course, mean that he uses "meth-addicted swamp raccoons" and ranking muppets "in order of f-ckability" to shine a light on some of the deepest, darkest flaws in our justice system.
