Rachel and Ross were lobsters with a baby, sure, and Chandler and Monica eventually made a family of four with their cute house in the suburbs after hooking up in London. But Phoebe and Joey -- arguably the most obviously meant-for-each-other pair of the "Friends" bunch -- never got together. Despite many suggestions that they should (and would).

Sure, they shared a few steamy smooches along the way, but they were never a thing, and it was kind of a shame because they were the only two who really understood chess-checkers, and why baby food makes for a perfect afternoon snack, and naming guitar chords as a method of instruction.

But, according to a new People interview with Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc, we now know that the actors, too, thought they should've hooked up.

In fact, Kudrow told the mag that she once proposed the idea of ending the series with the startling revelation that Phoebe and Joey were bumping uglies, as Janice would say, all the while.

"Towards the end we actually pitched the idea that Joey and Phoebe had been having casual sex the entire time," she said. "We'd go back and shoot all the historical scenes and just before a moment that everyone recognizes, there's Joey and Phoebe coming out of a broom closet together. But they were like, 'Nah.'"

The good news is that the "Friends" cast reunion we've been yearning for over the years finally happened recently.

LeBlanc explained, "All six of us had dinner recently for Courteney Cox's birthday. We had so much fun. It felt like no time had passed, but it'd been almost 12 years."

If only a few cameras had been around for THAT.
