Tinashe And Young Thug Team Up For Sultry Slow Jam ‘Party Favors’

The R&B sensation offers the first taste of her new 'Joyride' era.

Last week, Tinashe dropped the trippy trailer for her upcoming sophomore LP, Joyride, promising a “new era” and warning us she "can't be ignored, motherf--ker."

Now, we’ve gotten a taste of T’s fresh revival with the blurry slow jam “Party Favors.” The 22-year-old teased in a recent interview with Rolling Stone that the track is “a very in-your-face first impression,” and she wasn’t kidding.

Over a rickety, grinding beat courtesy of frequent Drake collaborator Boy-1da, Tinashe hazily boasts, “They don't go as hard as I do/I brought some to the party for you/I’ll mix it up and serve it for you/Party favors for you.” The sultry chill-out track — which also includes an Auto-Tuned verse from buzzy rapper Young Thug — is a far cry from the hooky, radio-friendly “2 On,” and more in the vein of her brooding “Cold Sweat.”

T told Rolling Stone that she's also teamed up with hit-making producers Dr. Luke and Max Martin for Joyride, so it sounds like we'll be hearing her navigate both sides of the spectrum -- from club bangers to icy slow jams -- when the album releases in November.
