The "Road House" remake has found their new cooler -- Ronda Rousey.

First released in 1989, the original "Road House" starred the late Patrick Swayze as a martial artist and bouncer -- the technically term in the movie is "cooler" -- who's brought into a small Missouri town to tame their toughest, most violent bar. It has since become a beloved cult movie for its campy violence. Seriously, at one point Swayze literally rips a guy's throat out with his bare hands.

Anyway, back in 2013, MGM hired "The Fast And The Furious" director Rob Cohen to remake the movie, but it's been stuck in development since then. According to Variety, however, MGM is now ready to start up again with a completely different imagining of the original film.

Between her featured roles in "Furious 7" and "Entourage," her recent victory in the U.S. women's bantamweight championship, and her upcoming autobiographical movie for Paramount, Rousey is having a really awesome year. Variety's source said that she even made sure to seek out the widow of Patrick Swayze, Lisa Niemi, for her blessing in creating the new film.

Variety also reports the studio is still reaching out to writers for a script. Prospective screenwriters, take note -- if you leave out the part from the original movie where the stuffed polar bear falls on that guy, you are doing a disservice to audiences everywhere.
