Snooki Is The All-Inclusive Fashion Designer We Desperately Need

Yes, that Snooki.

Here at MTV, we've been following every move of Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi's career since, well, we put her on a little show called "Jersey Shore." After two successful lines cashing in on her affordable-yet-fun style (Snooki Love and Snooki Love Nicole Polizzi), she's ready to transition into more sophisticated pieces with her latest fashion collection, Lovanna.

The new line will show off her "boss lady" side in more elegant, simple looks, like tailored midi dresses and long, breezy blazers. “I definitely love tight dresses and leopard print, still,” she told Refinery 29. “But after settling down with Jionni, having children, and growing up as a person, I realized that I wanted to grow up with my style, too. I still have fun with my outfits, but there’s a limit. But you can’t live for other people. You can’t be like, ‘I’m going to wake up today and please as many people as possible.’ You have to please yourself and do what’s right. Screw what other people think.”

So what makes this collection so special? Well, unlike typical celebrity-fronted brands (save for Melissa McCarthy), Snooki is designing her Lovanna line for the people. "If you want to have a successful clothing line, you have to understand each type of woman," she told Refinery. "Whether she’s tall, or short, or curvy, or not curvy — you have to cater to everybody. I’ve been trying to tell my team that we need to do a bunch of different styles in a bunch of different sizes. We’re trying to get it done, but it’s hard.” Who knew this Jersey Shore girl would be at the forefront of democratizing fashion?

“I’m not curvy anymore, but when I was, it was definitely harder to find clothes. I’m also small — and even I will design some stuff, try it on, and it’s way too long for me. But I’m not designing clothes just for me; it’s for every girl. I hope every girl in America can wear it.”

She also plans to make her sophisticated looks affordable for the masses, which, TBH, makes us love her even more. “I’ve always been a bargain shopper. Even when I started making money from TV, I didn’t change. I did buy my first Louis Vuitton bag, and that was cool, but I still shopped at Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe. Everyone wants to be the most expensive designer, but not me.”

The name of Snooki's collection is a combination of her two children (Giovanna and Lorenzo, as she adorably describes in the Instagram video above), and even though the fashion world hasn't always accepted her as a designer, she's thrilled to finally be mentioned in the mecca of mags for her new line, WWD. She told Refinery 29, "The fact that they put me in there was literally a dream come true.”
