California, here we come!
...And California, there it goes: The first and only performance of "The Unauthorized O.C. Musical" took place in Los Angeles last night (August 30), taking us all on a serious tumble down the memory hole.
It was a tumble that took place in super slow-motion, on a continuous loop, to the tune of "Hide and Seek," obviously.
Excitement had been building for the one-night-only musical event ever since it was announced earlier this summer, and not just among fans of the TV drama, either. At showtime, the audience included no fewer than three alums from the series: star Rachel Bilson, producer Stephanie Savage, and "The O.C." creator Josh Schwartz.
"The O.C." actress Autumn Reeser was also in attendance, but onstage, in the role of Julie Cooper.
If you missed your big chance to see "The Unauthorized O.C. Musical" on its opening (and closing) night, you can still experience it in the form of a few, precious video snippets from the performance that were captured by audience members, beginning with the familiar theme song...
...and ending with a serious "Hallelujah."
Brb, drowning forever in a pool of nostalgic tears.
