YOUR FAVORITE MTV SHOWS ARE ON PARAMOUNT+

This World's Richest DJs List Might Make You Want To Reconsider Your Career

Your favorite EDM acts are legit worth millions.

As you ready your fresh new Bic pens and unbent folders for syllabus week and lament surging textbook prices, it might be worth considering a change of majors. Or, hey, maybe just using your laptop to start making beats instead of typing papers.

A few days ago, Forbes released its Electronic Cash Kings list, which ranks the top-earning DJs and EDM acts in the world. Unsurprisingly, Calvin Harris topped the list, with $66 million, though we pretty much expected that, given this year's earlier reports that Cal and beau Taylor Swift are the world's highest-earning celeb couple.

What's really interesting is how much more Harris is making than the DJ with the No. 2 spot, David Guetta. Guetta raked in $37 million, staggering in its own right, but significantly under what Cal's earning these days. And fellow EDM superstars Tiesto, Skrillex, Steve Aoki, Avicii, Kaskade, Martin Garrix, Zedd and Afrojack rounded out the top 10, all making between $36 million and $16 million.

So, how are EDM acts (specifically DJs) worth so. much. money. in 2015? Think about it: Electronic music is massive, and its brand appeal has only grown in the last few years. Single DJs who can pump out 30 shows in Las Vegas while maintaining Ibiza residencies (like David Guetta) or nearly 100 shows per quarter (like Skrillex and Tiesto) have all the dough to show for it. Plus, they have no backup bands to pay.

If you're looking for a potential career switch-up, maybe a dip into the EDM realm is where you should be looking. As Deadmau5 points out, it's fairly cheap to finance.
