FX may be saying that "American Horror Story: Hotel" is primarily set in the present-day, but if this first look at Lady Gaga behind-the-scenes has anything to say about it, we're also taking a trip to the past, baby:

That floor-length fuchsia gown and single-glove ensemble is definitely a look to kill for -- or kill in -- right?

Now of course, Gaga's Countess character could just be attending an elaborate costume party (or dressing like Gaga does in her day-to-day life), but it seems pretty likely that the show has embraced that old-school Hollywood glam based on the photos taken in Los Angeles on Wednesday (August 19). Ryan Murphy told reporters at FX's Television Critics Association press tour panel that "Hotel" would be set in the present-day, but something tells us he wouldn't mind pulling an "Asylum," AKA jumping decades while sticking with one main location/set piece.
