The Weeknd’s New ’GQ’ Shoot Is Definitely Kanye-Approved
As The Weeknd's star continues to rise, the fashion world is taking notice. Not only does he appear in the September issue of Vogue with the cast of "Empire" and model Jourdan Dunn, but he also has a fashion spread in GQ wearing exclusively pieces from Kanye West's Yeezy Season 1 collection.
The shoot was the first time anyone had access to every piece of the collection since the NYFW show, and for The Weeknd, showing off Kanye's clothes was a no-brainer.
"I really felt like he targeted someone like me. The camo, the army look, the black boots, the nonchalant kind of vagrant look. I relate to it. It relates to my story," he said, adding, "Kanye is such a great friend of mine as well, when he asked me I couldn’t say no. It was the least I could do."
And with full access to the collection comes access to the now-sold out Yeezy Boost sneakers paired with sweatpants and a hoodie.
Of course, designer Yeezy doesn't come cheap, with the pieces ranging in prices
GQ also released a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot with their style editor and creative director weighing in on their favorite pieces from the collection and what it's like to style Kanye for a photo shoot. Check out the clip below and read the entire interview on GQ's website!
