Seeing First-Generation College Students Thank Their Parents Will Hit You Right In The Feels

*Sniffle*

For most parents, seeing their children succeed is all the thanks they need -- but that doesn't mean we all shouldn't express our gratitude to them from time to time.

With that in mind, The Flama asked first-generation Latino students to write letters to their parents thanking them for all their help getting them to college. The emotional letters were read aloud to their parents as a surprise, which explains why tissues are strategically placed within arm's reach of everyone involved.

"What inspires me the most about you is your desire for progress," a young woman says to her father, who emigrated from the Dominican Republic. "I have learned from your hard work that dreams aren't achieved out of thin air, but through their pursuit."
