This Transgender Champion Weightlifter Is Waiting To Transition For The Most Amazing Reason

Janae Marie Kroc is really living her truth.

Janae Marie Kroc has been chronicling her transition for more than a year. The weightlifter, who set several world records in 2009 when she identified as Matt Kroczaleski, has posted a series of pictures of her transformation with such hashtags as: #girlswholift, #girlswithmuscles, #genderfluid, #strongisthenewskinny and #bodytransformation.

But on Wednesday morning (July 29) she clarified that, despite recent reports, she was waiting to complete her transition for one very important reason: her high school-age sons.

"I am currently still living life in both genders," she wrote. "I am trying to wait until my sons are out of high school before moving forward. This is one hundred percent my decision not theirs. My sons encourage me to do whatever I need to do and state that they are totally fine with me transitioning now or at any point I see fit. They are amazing young men and the bond we have is unreal."

As Kroc, 42, further explained, she doesn't feel like she needs to fit into any of the pre-determined boxes society tell us we should conform to. Her IG profile identifies her as the unique combination "transgender/genderfluid Alpha male/girly girl Lesbian in a male body."

And that's only "because these are the closest any available labels come to describing who I am... In a perfect world I could snap my fingers and go back and forth at will but of course that world does not exist."

Because that world doesn't exist (not yet, anyway), Kroc says she identifies as female.

"However, this really isn’t about me being a boy or a girl or something in between," she added. "This is just about me being me, who I am and who I know myself to be." Right?

Cheers to living your truth, Janae.
