Pop open a beer, kick up your heels, and do the Bundy slouch as you reach for the clicker and warm your fingertips in your waistband. Because the world is maybe about to get more "Married With Children" on the tube, and we could not be more excited to find out what has happened to the loathsome foursome, Al (Ed O'Neill), Peg (Katey Sagal), Kelly (Christina Applegate), and Bud (David Faustino) who sassed up the sitcom regime for 11 straight seasons.
As reported by E! Online, Kelly and Bud were in attendance at the "Vacation" premiere on Monday (July 27) night and opened up about the very real possibility that the show will be rebooted with Faustino's new pitch, which is only held up by some pesky "legal" issues at the moment.
"Sony has it. They're excited about it," said Faustino, who had a mini-reunion with his former on-screen sister-slash-arch nemesis for the 11-season series. "They're working out some legal issues that we hope they work out. The whole cast, including Christina, is down to do little bits in it, and we hope it comes together."
"The idea would be a pilot for a spin-off," he added. "It involves me and few other people, but like I said, there are legal issues to work out. When you have a billion dollar show, there's a few people that have their hands out. So, we'll see what happens."
According to Applegate, Faustino's got full familial support for the move.
"All of us have said we would [make an appearance]," she said. "We would all be there for him."
That's very good news because when it comes to the Bundys, the song says it best: "You can't have one without the other."
As for where the show might pick up, neither snarky sibling was specific, but if the spin-off were to fast-forward to real-time Applegate thinks she knows exactly what her character might be up to. "Kelly Bundy probably has like 10 kids, I'm sure of it," she said. Cue the green slime stamp.
