Fast Food Employees In New York Will Earn $15/Hr.

The minimum wage is getting a boost across the country. On Wednesday, the University of California -- the state's third biggest employer -- announced that it would bump up pay for employees working more than 20 hours a week to $15 over the next 3 years. In New York, a bill raising the minimum wage for fast-food workers to $15 an hour is awaiting a signature from Governor Andrew Cuomo; that one could affect more than 180,000 working families and represent a 70 percent bump from the current $8.75. And in Washington, D.C., the minimum wage could rise from $10.50 to $15 by 2020 if a measure gets on the ballot for next year. The moves are part of a national "Fight for $15" campaign led by labor unions.

Blackface Cop Benefit Axed

A venue in Maryland booked to host a fundraiser for six Baltimore officers indicted in the death of Freddie Gray said Wednesday it won't allow the event after a former Baltimore officer announced he planned to perform a blackface routine. The move came after former Baltimore cop Bobby Berger said he was going to perform as Al Jolson during the Nov. gathering, which the local police union said it did not support; Jolson was a white early 20th century vaudeville performer who was known for wearing black makeup during shows. Berger, 67, who was fired from the force in the 1980s over his off-duty blackface performances, said he did not think there was anything racist about doing his routine at the show benefitting the six officers accused of causing the death of Gray, who was black.

ISIS A Bigger Threat Than Al Queda?

For more than a decade, the Islamic terror group Al Queda has been public enemy #1 for the United States. But on Wednesday, FBI director James Comey said that the Islamic State's (also know as ISIS or ISIL) effort's to recruit disaffected Americans online to "kill where you are" has become a bigger threat than external attacks from Al Queda. Comey said the FBI has arrested a "significant" number of plotters over the past two months, several of whom were planning attacks around the 4th of July. "ISIL is not your parent's Al Queda," Comey said. "ISIL is buzzing on your hip. They're right there on Twitter."

Quick Take: In the midst of a gender discrimination lawsuit, Twitter hosted a frat-themed staff party on Tuesday, complete with peer pong sets and a keg under a sign that read "Twitter Frat House." A spokesperson for the company -- which is being sued by a former female software engineer who claims Twitter's promotion policy unfairly favors men -- apologized for the party and said it was "in poor taste at best."
