Nikki Reed Is Heading To 'Sleepy Hollow' To Play An American Icon

She'll be seaming up the star-bangled banner soon.

After nearly 10 years away, Nikki Reed is finally heading back to the small screen.

Reed has nabbed a major new role on Fox’s pseudo-historical drama “Sleepy Hollow” as Betsy Ross -- yes, the same lady who sewed together the first American Flag. But you can put away the history books because the character is going to be about so much more than just stitching up stars and stripes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news, the Ross character is going to be “sexy with an unsuspecting physical prowess.”

So … something like this?

Kidding! (Well, mostly.)

The “Sleepy” team is super jazzed to have Reed on board for the series’ third season, of course.

“Nikki's the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show's twisted version of American icon, Betsy Ross,” said Len Wiseman, co-creator and executive producer of the show.

Luckily enough for her, the locale for shooting just so happens to be based in Atlanta, Georgia, where her fellow faux vamp hubby Ian Smolderholder Somerhalder just so happens to film his series, “The Vampire Diaries.” We think that might be more than just a coinkidink, but it's just a hunch.

The “Twilight” star’s only prior TV credit was a recurring supporting role on “The O.C.” as Sadie, the one that got away from Ryan Atwood in Season 3, so this'll be Reed's first regular series role to date.

Welcome to prime time, Nikki!
