Ron Perlman Is Sorry-Not-Sorry For Inciting A 'Hellboy'-Loving Twitter Mob

'I want to finish the f---ing trilogy!'

Last month, Ron Perlman inadvertently stirred a giant pot of rabid "Hellboy" love when he tweeted asking for fan support in getting a third, final film in the series made.

This week at San Diego Comic-Con, he revealed that he had to apologize to studio execs for spawning a hashtag campaign that just won't stop.

Deadline was sitting in on Perlman's appearance at the "Hand of God" panel at SDCC when he took a moment to acknowledge that time he accidentally-on-purpose sicced Hellboy's Twitter fanbase on Hollywood. But even now, the actor who plays the big, red son of the Fallen One can't help pointing out that it's supposed to be a trilogy, for crying out loud.

"If there’s a real honesty to fan culture relationships, we owe the world the finale of Hellboy," Perlman said. "We set up the whole film. It’s a deal we made. I don’t want to do Hellboy IV or V. I want to finish the f---ing trilogy!"

Meanwhile, fans were fervently hoping that there might be some news of a Hellboy three-quel revealed at SDCC, but Perlman could only confirm that the project had been the subject of occasional discussion with director Guillermo del Toro. Alas, that doesn't mean much.

Soooo... back to the hashtag, I guess.
